NSCDC nabs seven rail track vandals in Plateau

Seven individuals have been detained by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Plateau Command for allegedly damaging slippers and railway lines inside the state.

Alexander Barunde, the state's Commandant of the Corps, who paraded the suspects in Jos, said that his men had taken them into custody in the Kwakwi village in the state's Riyom Local Government Area.

He clarified that an intelligence report from some community members preceded the arrest.

According to Barunde, among the materials and sixty railway track sections found among the alleged vandals are thirty slippers and other stuff.

"The suspects loaded the items in two trucks, heading to a yet-to-be-identified destination. My men apprehended them and brought them here for interrogation.

”The suspects will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded,” he said.

Ahmed Mohammed, one of the accused, said they were just hired to transport the things and denied knowing they had been vandalised.

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Kano has arrested a 35-year-old man, Muhammad Munzali for attempting to enter the female hostel of Skyline University, Nigeria.

NSCDC operatives attached to the Critical National Assets and Infrastructure Department apprehended Munzali around 10:00 pm. 

This was contained in a press statement by the NSCDC Public Relations Officer, Superintendent Ibrahim Idris Abdullahi, Munzali on Friday.

According to the statement, the suspect was disguised and dressed in women's garb and found with local charms on his person.    

"Investigation is being carried out to unravel the motive of his intrusion into the Private University's women hostel.

"On completion of investigation legal action will be taken against him,” the statement said. 

The arrest comes after NSCDC Kano State Commandant, Mohammed Lawal Falala, recently directed officers to increase vigilance and surveillance around educational institutions in the state.
