Residents of Garage Olode in Ife south local government area of Osun State on Saturday blocked the busy Ondo-Ife road in protest over 12 years power outage in the town.
The residents who were armed with different placards, trooped out en mass to express their grievance over the slow pace of the ongoing reconnection project by the state government.
Expressing their grievances over the slow pace of work, they called on Governor Adegboyega Oyetola to ensure their stay in darkness ended soon.
As a result of the protest, vehicular movement came to a halt on the Garage Olode axis of the Ife-Ondo road as many road users were left stranded as the road was blocked for over two hours by the angry protesters.
It was gathered that Governor Oyetola had in June 2021 flagged off reconnection of the town to national grid but the project has not seen the light of the day as darkness continues to persist in the area.
