The Oyo State Deputy Governor, Rauf Olaniyan, has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Olaniyan made this known while speaking with journalists in Ibadan on Sunday.
The defection of Olaniyan from PDP to APC, it was gathered, is coming a few days after the state governor, Makinde dropped him ahead of the 2023 general elections.
"Which official announcement do you want me to make?
“My friends and people asked me to leave PDP.
“I have joined APC," he stressed when quizzed by journalists.
The deputy governor is from the Oke-Ogun geopolitical zone.
He added that despite his defection, he remains the Deputy Governor of the state as his recent action does not affect the relationship between him and his boss, Governor Seyi Makinde.
