The Oyo Assembly has approved the name of Bayo Lawal, the Chairman of the Oyo State Housing Corporation, as Seyi Makinde’s new deputy.
He was nominated by the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde.
This comes few minutes after Rauf Olaniyan was impeached and Lawal is expected to be sworn in by the Chief Judge of Oyo State as soon as possible.
The erstwhile deputy governor was on Monday impeached by the Oyo State House of Assembly.
Lawal, a lawyer, who hails from Irepo local government was a former Attorney General of Oyo State in 1999 under the administration of former governor, late Lam Adesina, was appointed the Executive Chairman, Oyo State Housing Corporation by Governor ‘Seyi Makinde.
He was the candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the 2019 senatorial election in Oyo North which was won by AbdulFatai Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC)
Bayo Lawal was recently nominated to deputise Governor Makinde for the 2023 election.
