Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Prof. Isa Pantami has announced that the government is dedicated to helping its Ministries Departments and Agencies (MDAs) take advantage of the benefits and opportunities presented by the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR).

Pantami made the promise during the opening ceremony of a ministerial training course for the National Information Technology Development Agency's (NITDA) board and management staff in Abuja.

The Fourth Industrial Revolution: Equipping NITDA for Growth and Resilience was the focus of the training session.

The minister described the opportunities and gains in the 4IR as enormous, saying that the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari had continued to leverage on them to develop the country in all ramifications.

“During a retreat organised by the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation in 2022,eight priority areas wete handed to our ministry which targeted leveraging on opportunities in the 4IR.

“The ministry recorded A+ in all the eight priority areas because job creation, increased revenue generation, digitalisation and partnership with the private sector, among others have changed the narrative in the Nigeria digital economy ecosystem,” he said.

In order to learn, unlearn, and relearn new information, Pantami continued, it was important to organise training for the boards, management, and personnel of all the agencies and parastatals under the ministry.

He claims that the 4IR places more of a focus on developing global abilities than it does on earning certifications.

According to him, the emphasis of the trainings was on developing leadership abilities, effective skills, and the 4IR so that NITDA could be the catalyst for the country's digital revolution.

According to Mallam Kashifu Inuwa, director general of NITDA, the management staff needed the training to update their understanding of the 4IR and sharpen their skills.

The Internet of Things, robotics, virtual reality, and artificial intelligence are just a few of the disruptive technologies and trends that are transforming how people live and work in the modern world. This environment is known as the 4IR.
