Police in Delta State have confirmed the murder of an officer simply identified as Ifeanyi by unidentified gunmen on Friday.
A report had surfaced that the officer was abducted and later killed by his abductors.
He was said to have been attached to the Eagle Net patrol team of the Ughelli Area Command.
However, details surrounding his murder remain scanty; reports have it that the deceased was abducted on Thursday evening while returning home from official duty.
Confirming the incident on Saturday, Police Public Relations Officer of the State Command, Bright Edafe, said: “The killed police officer was returning home after closing of work.
“He was intercepted and kidnapped; later, we discovered his dead body. Search for the assailants is on, and we will see how we can get them as soon as possible.”
