Nigerians concluded the week with a peaceful protest in Lagos on Saturday, expressing frustration over the increasing cost of living.

Market traders, youths, and other demonstrators gathered in the Ibeju-Lekki area to voice their concerns about the government's handling of economic challenges.

During the protest, participants held placards with messages like "Baba Tinubu, Nigerians are hungry" and "Tinubu, come and rescue us."

Similar protests have been observed in Kogi, Osun, Niger, and Kano states in recent days, all highlighting the burden of rising living expenses since the removal of petrol subsidies in May 2023.

Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Prof. Itse Sagay criticized President Bola Tinubu's abrupt removal of the fuel subsidy during his inaugural speech, attributing it to the current hardships faced by Nigerians.

Sagay, who previously chaired the Presidential Advisory Committee on Corruption, expressed these views during an interview on Channels Television.
