Four people have been shot dead while five others were injured during a shooting incident at KwaMashu Men’s Hostel in KwaZulu-Natal.
The incident happened on Wednesday afternoon, February 1, 2023.
Colonel Robert Netshiunda, a South African Police Service (SAPS) spokesperson in KwaZulu-Natal, said three persons were allegedly shot dead at the hostel, which is renowned for gang-related crimes, and a fourth victim died from injuries at a local clinic.
Five additional persons have been brought to a clinic with gunshot wounds, according to Netshiunda.
“It is reported that at least 20 armed suspects stormed into the hostel and opened fire on the victims. Police are investigating cases of murder,” he explained.
