South African Police have arrested a man allegedly linked to a tavern shooting in Mamelodi, Pretoria, earlier this year.

Police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo, said in a statement issued on Friday that the 25-year-old man was on the police's most wanted list.

He was arrested by the Tshwane Anti-Drug Unit and Mamelodi Combat Team in Mamelodi on Thursday.

The man was discovered to be in possession of illegal firearms and ammunition, according to Masondo.

He continued by saying that the man had ties to numerous incidents of carjacking, homicide, attempted homicide, and possession of illegal firearms.

After one person was fatally shot at the Monaco Tavern in Mamelodi in July, there were months before the arrest.

When they arrived at the scene, three suspects carrying pistols and donning balaclavas fired shots into the air before approaching a 33-year-old man and shooting him twice, according to Gauteng police at the time.
