Yobe: Residents hail Buni for Ramadan feeding programme

Following the commencement of the Ramadan feeding programme in Yobe State, residents have commended Governor Mai Mala Buni for the gesture towards the vulnerable groups in the state.

The governor had on Monday approved the sum of N187 million for the feeding of poor and vulnerable persons across the state throughout the month of Ramadan.

Some of the beneficiaries, at the Emir's Palace Feeding Centers and School of Nursing in Damaturu, the state capital said that the gesture has enabled them to perform the Ramadan fast with ease.

One Malam Usman said he counted on the free feeding to break his fast daily, adding that the quantity of food provided was enough for him to break the fast and to keep for Sahoor the next day. 

Malama Uwani, a widow also said that the Ramadan free feeding programme had helped in feeding her four children.

She said: “The feeding programme has assisted this year because of the current economic hardship been faced. I have been struggling to feed the children since their father died. 

“We thank Governor Mai Mala Buni for the gesture and pray that God will reward him abundanlty for his policies and programme to help the masses."

Another beneficiary, Baba Goni said the programme was helpful to him, stating that: “For some of us who have no support, the programme has been helping us because we have no source of help.

“We assemble every day at the Center to collect Kunu and Jollof rice for Iftar and even rice for dinner. We pray for Governor Mai Mala Buni for the gesture."

The governor's Senior Special Assistant on Communications and Strategy, Yusuf Ali had explained that at least 200 people are expected to benefit from the governor's gesture in each of the 84 feeding centers across the 17 Local Government Areas of the state throughout the Ramadan period.
