Zulum engages LBS to train civil servants, strengthen 25-year development plan

Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum has engaged the Lagos Business School (LBS) in training senior civil servants in the state and, to strengthen implementation of the state's 25-year development plan. 

Represented by (Dr) Bukar Tijjani, the Secretary to the State Government, Zulum declared the five-day training on Tuesday, stressing its significance, especially to the six newly appointed Permanent Secretaries in the state.

He urged the participants to put in their best, and apply the knowledge acquired from the training in the discharge of their respective duties. 

The training was organized by the Borno State Ministry of Budget and Planning, in collaboration with the Borno State Delivery Support Unit, Agency For Coordination and Sustainable Development, Partnership and Humanitarian Response.

The training, facilitated by the LBS, focusing on Public Policy and Governance aims cater to the specific needs required for the successful implementation of the state 25-year development plan.

The State Commissioner for Budget and Planning, (Dr) Mustapha Babagana Malumbe said the need for the training was "in re-evaluating the vision, mission, and core value statement of Borno State. 

"The training will also delve into the essentials of strategy in the Borno State 25-year Development Plan, the challenges of implementing strategy in a disruptive environment, and the complexities of changing a government."

Also speaking, the Head of Civil Service, Barrister Mallam Fannami expressed his commitment to the success of the training, adding that it was inline with the public service reforms initiated by Governor Zulum.

On her part, (Dr) Mairo Mandara, the State Coordinator for Sustainable Development, Partnership and Humanitarian Support said the 25-year plan requires a collective responsibility of the people of Borno.

While calling for social reorientation among public servants, and other stakeholders, she said the training will "prepare stakeholders in the public sector to effectively implement the plan."

Meanwhile, Victor Attah, the Director of Education at the Lagos Business School appreciated the Borno State Government for the collaborative opportunity to implement the training.
