Personal life

Theo James was born in England, the youngest of five children. He is married to Irish actress Ruth Kearney.

Education

He attended Aylesbury Grammar School and earned a degree in Philosophy from the University of Nottingham. He was also trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School.

Career

James made his TV debut in 2010 by appearing in two episodes of A Passionate Woman. In that same year, he was featured in the film You Will Meet A Tall Stranger.

He starred in the horror series Bedlam in 2011 and also played a nightclub rep in The Inbetweeners Movie (2011). His career breakthrough came in 2015 when he played the character of Tobias 'Four' Eaton in the film adaptation of the Divergent books.

The actor reprised the role of Four in the Divergent sequels. His other film credits include The Benefactor (2015),  London Fields (2018), Backstabbing for Beginners (2018), How It Ends (2018), and Archive (2020).

In 2021, James voiced the lead character in the Netflix animated movie The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf.
