History Of Ika

Ika Local Government Area situated in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. It is located in the South-South geopolitical zone of the country. Ika is one of the eight Annang local government areas out of the thirty-one local government areas in Akwa Ibom State. The headquarters of Ika Local Government Area is Urua Inyang.
Ika is subdivided into clans, including Urban (1 & II), Ito (1, II, and III), Achan (1, II, and III), and Odoro (1 & II), with over 50 villages in total.
Culture:

The language of the Ika people is an Annang dialect of the Annang people, and the Annang language is widely spoken in the area. Some of the towns and villages that make up Ika Local Government Area include Achan Ika, Ikot Inwang, Ito, Nto Udoete, Iwukem, Edem Akai, Nto Usoh, and Ikot Ekong.

The estimated population of Ika LGA is reported to be 89,078 inhabitants. The majority of the area's inhabitants belong to the Annang ethnic sub-division.
