History Of Ikot Abasi

Ikot Abasi Local Governement area is situated in the southwest corner of Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. It shares borders with Oruk Anam Local Government Area to the north, Mkpat Enin and Eastern Obolo Local Government Areas to the east, and the Atlantic Ocean to the south. The Imo River serves as the natural boundary in the west, separating it from Rivers State.

The estimated population of Ikot Abasi LGA is around 101,333 inhabitants. The majority of the people belong to the Ibibio ethnic group, and the Ibibio language is widely spoken in the area.

Ikot Abasi is divided into five clans, namely Edemaya Clan, Ikpa Ibekwe Clan, Ikpa Nnung Assang Clan, Ukpum Ette Clan, and Ukpum Okon Clan.
