History Of Isokan

Isokan Local Government Area in Osun State, Nigeria. The headquarters of Isokan LGA is in the town of Apomu, situated at 7°20′00″N 4°11′00″E. Isokan has an area of 179 km⊃2;. The population of Isokan was 103,177 at the 2006 census. The postal code for Isokan is 221.

The name "Isokan" is derived from the Yoruba word "isokan," meaning "unity." The LGA was created in 1991 from parts of the former Ifon and Ilesa LGAs. Major towns in Isokan include Apomu, Ikirun, Iragbiji, and Iwo. The economy of Isokan is based on agriculture, with major crops being cocoa, yam, cassava, and maize.
