Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area(LGA) is located in the Southern part of Bauchi State, Northern Nigeria. Tafawa Balewa LGA is in the North-east geopolitical zone of Nigeria. The headquarters of the LGA was initially in the town of Tafawa Balewa but was shifted to Bununu town in 2011 due to constant unrest in the former.
Major towns and villages in Tafawa Balewa LGA include Gongo, Gumel, Malanchi, Gital, Kuturu, Bununu, and Zul. The current estimated population of Tafawa Balewa LGA is put at 254,701 inhabitants.
The area is primarily populated by members of the Sayawa ethnic affiliation. The Saya language is commonly spoken in the LGA.
