History Of Toro

Toro Local Government Area (LGA) is located in Bauchi State, North-east geopolitical zone of Nigeria. The headquarters of the LGA is in the town of Toro. Toro LGA is noted as the largest local government in Nigeria and West Africa, covering an area of 6,932 square kilometers.

The population of Toro LGA was 350,404 at the 2006 census.
The current estimated population is put at 449,819 inhabitants. Toro LGA is divided into three districts: Toro, Jama'a, and Lame district.

Major towns and villages in Toro LGA include Panshanu, Muja Berkete, Toro, Pingel, Tama, Zalau, Boloji, and Magama Gumau. The area is primarily inhabited by members of the Panawa, Jarawa, Izere, and Hausa/Fulani ethnic groups.
