Fourteen people have been killed in two attacks in an area of the Democratic Republic of Congo that is volatile. In the recorded casualties, a government official and his family were bludgeoned to death.
The people who carried out the massacre are believed to be a part of the Democratic Forces for the Liberation of Rwanda (FDLR), killing the official, his wife, and their five kids in Bukoma, a town in North Kivu province on Tuesday, this is according to Eugene Rwanze, a local of the town.
The attack was confirmed by Modeste Kabori, a local official, described the acts of the FDLR militia as "sowing terror" in the town.

A few towns over, five police officials and a civilian were murdered in an attack on a police station in the Ituri province.
Guly Gotabo, head of a local civil society told AFP that, “Armed men attacked the Irumu police station firing rounds in all directions.”
The attackers, upon raiding the police station, killed the five police officers and a civilian, carting away with two weapons they had laid hands on at the station.
