Mike Brown, Coach of Nigeria's men senior basketball team, D'Tigers, has expressed optimism that his team will continue to improve, AllNews reports.
Despite the heroics of Mali's Ibrahim Djambo who sank 22 points and 5 rebounds, it was not enough to stop a determined D'Tigers who had their eyes fixed on their third straight win after defeating South Sudan and hosts - Rwanda.
It was a perfect start for D’Tigers as the 2021 FIBA Afrobasket Qualifier ends in Rwanda.
D'Tigers concluded their first FIBA Afrobasket on a winning note as they maintained their unbeaten run with another emphatic 91-68 points win against Mali on Sunday afternoon.
It was a fine way for Nigeria boss and Golden State Warriors assistant coach, Mike Brown to start his career with the Green and White boys.
“They are all winners and they understand that in international play, the point matters," Brown said after the game against Mali.
"We want to get used to playing the full 40 minutes.
"I thought the guys stepped up their performance as the match progressed.”

Point guard, Ben Uzoh said of the team’s impressive performance: “It means a lot leaving Kigali with three wins from three matches and it set the tone as we had a goal before the competition.”
