Austrian Airline To Suspend Flights From Thursday Over Virus

An offshoot of the Lufthansa group, Austrian Airlines, the flag carrier of Austria has said that the steep fall in demand from the outbreak of coronavirus has caused the airline to suspend all its regular flights starting from Thursday.

The company says that the suspension would continue until the 28th of March but flights that will repatriate Austrian nationals trapped in foreign countries will continue operations

The airline's last regularly scheduled flight from Chicago is slated to arrive in Austria on Thursday morning, hence, the commencement of the suspension on the said day.

Lufthansa, said, last week, that it would cancel a total of 23,000 flights across all airline companies it owns, as it battles with the effect that rode on the back of the outbreak of the virus.
