ASP Drambi Vandi, the policeman who shot and killed female lawyer Bolanle Raheem, has been suspended in the wake of the cries for justice in the murder case.
The development was announced by the Head of Press and Public Relations of the Police Service Commission (PSC), Ikechukwu Ani, on Thursday in Abuja.
Vandi's suspension takes place with immediate effect.
Ani disclosed that the commission has also directed the conclusion of the final investigation into the case so that further action can be taken.
“The commission, in a letter to the Inspector General of Police (I-G), signed by its acting Chairman, Justice Clara Ogunbiyi, has carefully examined the facts of the case.
“It has granted the approval of the suspension of the officer from duty with immediate effect after observing allegations brought against him", he stated.
Speaking further, Ani said the commission has also called for proper training of Police personnel on weapon management following the death of Raheem on Christmas day.
