Coronavirus: Zimbabwe Records First Positive Case

A Zimbambwean who recently returned to his home in the town of Victoria Falls after a visit to Britain has tested positive for coronavirus, making him the first case in the country.

The country Minsiter of Health, Obadiah Moyo, disclosed this on ZTV, a state television, “The is the first case of Covid-19 in Zimbabwe.” 

“The is the first case of Covid-19 in Zimbabwe,” said Health Minister Obadiah Moyo on state television ZTV.

“The patient is a 38-year-old Caucasian man… who had travelled to Manchester in the UK on the 7th of March and returned to his home in Victoria Falls on the 15th of March via South Africa.”

The Government of Zimbabwe, in an effort to combat the spread of the virus cancelled both public and sporting events, also ordering that all schools shut down activities on Tuesday.

The country's health system has been facing some issues, with the doctors working with spare equipment, and subsequently staging a strike for three months over their paltry pay and their direful working conditions.
