Couple Found Dead On Farmland In Ebonyi

A yet-to-be-identified couple was on Friday found dead on a farm at Amuzu village, Nkpoghoro community, in the Afikpo North Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

Confirming the reports, the Commissioner of Police, Ebonyi state, Philip Maku said the Command has commenced an investigation to find out and arrest those involved in the act.

Maku said a husband and wife in the area, whose names are yet to be ascertained, were on Friday found dead on farmland in the community.

“We have an incident where a man and his wife went to the farm but could not return.

“We are also investigating to find out who did the act and anybody with useful information on the perpetrators should contact the police,” Maku said.

Meanwhile, a 62-year-old fisherman, Okoro Ogbu, from Okposi community, in the Ohaozara Local Government Area of the state has allegedly been killed by hoodlums.

According to reports, the decomposing body was seen floating on the popular Esu River on Thursday, after he was declared missing by his family a week ago.

Odah, who confirmed the incident, said police were investigating the matter.

She said, “The matter is being investigated. The kinsman whom he had issues with has been arrested.

"The corpse has been evacuated and deposited at the General Hospital Mortuary, in the Ohaozara Local Government Area of the state, for preservation and autopsy.”
