In an effort to cater to the rising numbers of coronavirus cases, the island nation of Bahrain has converted a car park near its capital of Manama into an ICU with 130 beds.
Bahrain, with a small population of 1.5 million, has recorded 1,500 cases, with a death toll of 7, and 645 people have recovered from the disease.
National statistics in the country shows that just three people are in critical condition.
The country's Royal Medical Services commander, Sheikh Khalid bin Ali Al-Khalifa, while speaking with reporters explained, “The new ICU is a precautionary step in case there are any developments.
“We are able in record time, in seven days, to establish this unit with 130 beds… working day and night.
“This is the first time that such an equipped (temporary) unit has been established in the Gulf.”
The ICU was set up as a collaborative effort of the country's defence ministry and other government bodies.

To provide adequate attention to the patients, 800 nurses and doctors have been undergoing training to deal with those who are admitted to intensive care units since the month of February.
