The Senegalese Government plans to lift the state of emergency and curfew imposed due to the coronavirus pandemic, with international flights scheduled to resume from July.
This development was announced by the President, Macky Sall, who noted that the country's economy might take a dip if the country continued with the curfew.
He also added that the growth in Senegal could move from a promising "6.8 percent to 1.1 percent or even less.”
Sall also said that he envisioned a recession, stating that “all our productive activity must be resumed in order to get our economy going again.

“Just as we cannot let the virus take our lives and our health, we cannot let it take our economic health and life.”
Sall is still in isolation, even after testing negative for the coronavirus after he came into contact with a carrier of the virus.
“Given this double necessity, I have decided to lift the state of emergency and the curfew”, sall said.
As the curfew is being lifted, residents are still expected to wear face masks in public places, with markets shutting down for one day every week for cleaning.
