Democracy Day: IPOB's Kanu Opens Up On Why 'Biafrans Are Sta

On Nigeria's 'Democracy Day', Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) says the 'terrible mindset of domination at all costs that will never stop' is the reason his people are standing up against the Federal Government, AllNews reports.

Kanu's IPOB claims that Biafrans are marginalized by the Nigerian government through a lack of equitable resource distribution, poor investment, and an unfair heavily militarized presence in their region.

The Federal High Court in Abuja labelled the IPOB as a terrorist organization on 18 September 2017 and they continue to be declared as a terrorist organization under Nigeria’s Terrorism Act.

There has been peaceful protests in the country regarding IPOB. The main reason for their protests is because they want the opportunity to vote for independence. Most importantly they want an independence referendum to have a date set by the government.
