The game sparked straight to live in the 5th minute as Benzema played Valverde through on goal, the Uruguayan finished the ball in style into the top corner past Neto.

Barcelona responded immediately in the 8th minute when Jordi Alba beats the offside trap to square play with Ansu Fati, the young star tapped the ball in to make it 1-1 before 10 minutes.

No breakthrough could be achieved in the first half as both sides canceled each other out.

In the 60th minute, Lenglet pulled Sergio Ramos's shirt in the box as a set-piece was played in, the referee did not spot it at first but VAR called playback and the penalty was given.

Sergio Ramos stepped up to take it as he finished the ball into the left bottom corner past Neto's hands, the Brazilian guessed right but the ball was too fast for his hands.

Real Madrid was back in front with a 2-1 line.

Ronaldo Koeman brought in four attackers with Dembele, Trincao, and Griezmann but later Alba was subbed off for Martin Braithwaite.

With a 3-2-4 formation, the Barcelona backline became more porous, a through ball for Rodrygo was stopped by outrushing Neto but spilled it for Vinicius, he passed to Modric, he dribbled past Neto and coolly slot it into the net to seal the win at 1-3.

Madrid moves to the top of the table with 13 points and Barcelona remains in 10th position with 2 games at hand and could drop below after other La Liga fixtures played.

With Sevilla, Osasuna, Valencia, and Athletic Bilbao set to play Barcelona could drop to 17th on the table.
