Election Results: Atiku Set To Challenge Tinubu's Victory Wi

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the just-concluded election, Atiku Abubakar has reportedly engaged the services of 19 Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs) to battle the President-elect, Bola Tinubu in court.

Toeing the line of his Labour Party counterpart Peter Obi, who stated earlier that he is heading to court on Wednesday, Atiku briefed his legal team at his campaign Headquarters in Abuja as he gets ready to contest the presidential results.

During the briefing, the former vice president told them to "establish the claim of illegality in the election and reclaim the mandate of the Nigerian people".

Per reports, the team is headed by a veteran litigation and commercial lawyer named JK Gadzama.

While challenging them on the need to ensure victory in court, Atiku added that going through the process is crucial, not just for PDP but to reinforce constitutional democracy and safeguard it for future generations.

According to Vanguard, the lawyers include Chief Chris Uche, Paul Usoro, Tayo Jegede, Ken Mozia, Chief Mike Ozekhome, Mahmood Magaji, Joe Abraham, Chukwuma Umeh, Garba Tetengi and Chief Emeka Etiaba – as well as Chief Goddy Uche, Professor Maxwell Gidado; PDP’s National Legal Adviser A.K. Ajibade; O.M. Atoyebi; Nella Rabana; Paul Ogbole; Nuremi Jimoh and Abdul Ibrahim.

Atiku previously led his party members on a protest at the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

He was accompanied by his running mate, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State and a chieftain of the party, Dino Melaye.
