The self-exiled leader of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu says he endorses protests across the United States of America (USA) in relation to the May 25 killing by police of a black man, George Floyd.
AllNews reports that controversial Kanu also challenged indigenous Nigerian demonstrators of the death of the 46-year-old to "protest against the killings through acts of Nigerian State terror, amidst the ethnic cleansing underway in the North".
A group of Nigerians under the auspices of Black Lives Matter Movement In Nigeria on Tuesday besieged the Embassy of the United States in Abuja to protest the gruesome murder of Floyd by a Minneapolis police officer.
The protesters defied the armed policemen stationed at the embassy to drive home their message.
They called for an end to racial discrimination and injustice and the killing of innocent citizens irrespective of skin colour.
I endorse the PROTESTS across America over the horrendous killing of George Floyd. For those protesting it in Nigeria - well done but remember to also protest against the killings through acts of Nigerian State terror, amidst the ethnic cleansing underway in the North. pic.twitter.com/vL2L1osg2K

Meanwhile, according to Associated Press (AP), more than 10,000 people have now been arrested in protests against racism and police brutality in the wake of Floyd’s death.
The AP figures show that Los Angeles has had more than a quarter of the national arrests, followed by New York, Dallas, and Philadelphia.
Many of the arrests have been for low-level offences such as curfew violations and failure to disperse.
Hundreds were arrested on burglary and looting charges.
In related news, James Mattis, President Donald Trump's former defence secretary has denounced the American leader, saying he deliberately stokes division.
According to Mattis, he was "angry and appalled" by Trump's handling of ongoing protests over the death of African American George Floyd at the hands of police.
Mattis berated Trump's "abuse of authority" - and backed protesters seeking to uphold American values.
