The Supreme Leader of North Korea, Kim Jong Un, made his first public appearance since it was speculated that he had taken gravely ill last month.
He graced the opening of a fertilizer factory, cutting the ribbon, this is according to KCNA.
The Korean Central News Agency said that Kim had “attended the ceremony” to which “all the participants broke into thunderous cheers of ‘hurrah!'.
During the opening, he inspected the fertilizer facility and was “briefed about the production processes.”
The news agency also stated that Kim “said with deep emotion” that his predecessors Kim Il Sung (grandfather) and Kim Jong Il (father) “would be greatly pleased if they heard the news that the modern phosphatic fertilizer factory has been built.”
Theories of Kim's failing health came to life after he was absent at the April 15 birthday celebrations of his grandfather Kim II Sung, founder of the North, which is an important date in the country's calendar.
