The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Umar Farouq, says N206 billion was inserted into the ministry’s 2023 budget estimates.
The Minister, who spoke at a budget defence session with the Senate Committee on Special Duties on Monday, said her ministry was surprised that the fund, meant to implement projects for the North East Development Commission (NEDC), was inserted in the budget after a similar request in 2022 was not released. Seventy-six persons have been rescued from what could have been a horrible experience after a joint security team of policemen and Soldiers rescued them along Funtua-Zaria Road at Gulbala area of Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna state.
