Sadiya Farouk Says N206 Billion Padded Into Ministry's Budget

The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Umar Farouq, says N206 billion was inserted into the ministry’s 2023 budget estimates.

The Minister, who spoke at a budget defence session with the Senate Committee on Special Duties on Monday, said her ministry was surprised that the fund, meant to implement projects for the North East Development Commission (NEDC), was inserted in the budget after a similar request in 2022 was not released. 76 Passengers Escape Horror As Security Agents Save Them From Bandits

Seventy-six persons have been rescued from what could have been a horrible experience after a joint security team of policemen and Soldiers rescued them along Funtua-Zaria Road at Gulbala area of Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna state.

The persons, who were travelling were rescued on Friday when the Police Divisional Headquarters, Giwa, received a report that a large number of bandits wielding sophisticated weapons blocked the section of the road to abduct innocent commuters. Read more here.

Insecurity: Police Releases Phone Numbers Of DPOs, OCs In Nasarawa 

The Nasarawa State Police Command has released the phone numbers of Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) in the State in a bid to tackle the rising spate of insecurity in the state. 

The phone numbers were released on Monday alongside the phone numbers of the control room and the Officers-in-Charge (OCs) of anti-kidnapping, anti-cultism, Operation Nasara, anti-robbery and monitoring.  Read more here.

Governor Yahaya Appoints Kwairanga As New Emir Of Funakaye

The Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has approved the appointment of Alhaji Yakubu Muhammad Kwairanga as the new Emir of Funakaye.

The appointment is contained in a letter signed by the Commissioner for Local Governments and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Ibrahim Dasuki Jalo. Read more here.

Allianz Nigeria Appoints Interim CEO

The appointment of Jaideep Goel was been announced by Allianz Nigeria on Monday as the interim Chief Executive Officer (CEO)  of the insurance company subject to regulatory approval and the appointment of a new CEO in due course.

The reputation And Transformation Manager of the firm,  Ekpe Kanma, said, in a statement in Lagos, that Goel’s appointment followed the resignation of Adeolu Adewumi-Zer as CEO and Managing Director of the firm. Read more here.

FG To Launch Significant Broadband Projects Initiatives In Abuja

The federal government has said that it would award contracts on Thursday, November 24, in order to hasten the installation of broadband infrastructure throughout the nation.

Cooking Gas Prices Increased By 0.2 Per Cent In October 2022 - NBS

The average cost of 5 kg of cooking gas increased by 0.21 % from N4,474.48 in September to N4,483.75 in October.

Disgruntled community members in Ingogo, outside Newcastle, South Africa, have vowed to continue closing the N11 route as they demand electricity.
