Machala: Blaqbonez Weighs In On Feud Between Carter Efe, Berri-Tiga

Machala: Blaqbonez Weighs In On Feud Between Carter Efe, Ber

Nigerian rapper Blaqbonez has intervened in the ongoing dispute between comedian Carter Efe and singer Berri Tiga over who is the rightful proprietor of their popular song ‘Machala’.

According to a tweet on Friday, Blaqbonez blasted Carter Efe for wanting to take 95% of ‘Machala’ proceedings despite not writing the song.

Blaqbonez maintained that it is common decency to favour the creative behind the song because without him, there would have been no song in the first place.

“U no write song, u no produce beat but u want 95%. wow

“Forget music business, forget “i dey help you” common human decency tells u that u should favor the CREATIVE! the one that brought the music out of thin air

“Without promoter song fit blow, without the creative the song won’t exist!” Blaqbonez tweeted.

Carter Efe and Berri Tiga released their highly anticipated single ‘Machala’, dedicated to Wizkid, on July 29, 2022.

‘Machala’ went on to have a number two debut on TurnTable Nigeria Top 100 and number one on Apple Music Nigeria Top 100.

However, the song was off streaming platforms in August due to a disagreement between Carter Efe and Beri Tiga.

Explaining what transpired, Carter Efe said he had to remove Hotkid from the song because Berri Tiga thinks Hotkid might outshine him in the song.

While both parties shared their sides of the story, it was revealed that Carter Efe offered singer Berri-Tiga, who wrote and sang the entire song, a ridiculous 95%-5% split (in favour of the comedian).

On his own part, Beri Tiga explained that he accepted a 70/30 share of the record and acknowledged that Carter is the rightful owner of the song.

He claimed that when Carter's crew attempted to bribe him off with 100,000 naira, things turned ugly.

This was before Carter gave him a contract outlining his lack of permission to sing the song.

Berri disclosed that he resisted signing the deal as he composed and sang the song.

He went on to say that he doesn't want to fight with Carter about ownership, simply that Carter fulfils the terms of the 70/30 deal.
