'Mixed Feelings', Says Falz As He Celebrates 30th Birthday

Even though birthdays are special days for celebration, Nigerian rapper Folarin 'Falz' Falana says he has mixed feelings as he clocks 30 on Tuesday, October 27.

Falz who has been at the forefront of the #EndSars protest, in a post on Instagram recalled how lives were lost during the struggle in the past one week.

While sharing a photo of his, the rapper also prayed for a better Nigeria.

He wrote "Mixed feelings. It has been a week since we lost our brave soldiers at the toll gate. I have also now officially been on this earth for 30 years. I pray for a much better tomorrow. I pray for a Nigeria that I can truly be proud to call home."

In other news, he has vowed to do everything in his power to get justice for victims of police brutality especially the lives that were lost with the use of military force during the protest at Lekki.

In a video via his Twitter account, the rapper expressed his delight in the energy, sense, unity, and resilient spirit that the protesters have built in the course of the fight against police brutality.

He added that he would follow every step taken by the panel that was set up to look into cases of police brutality and make sure that everything that needs to be done in terms of legal representation for all the victims is put in place.

Falz music career began while he was in secondary school after forming a music group ‘The School Boys’ with his friends. In 2009, he dropped a mixtape titled  ‘Shakara: The Mixtape’. He also released ‘Waz Up Guy’, ‘High Class’ and ‘Currency’ in 2011. However, the release of his song ‘Marry Me’ featuring Poe and Yemi Alade, marked the beginning of his successful music career.

Falz has collaborated with a number of popular Nigerian acts like Davido, Simi, Olamide, Burna Boy, Wande Coal, Maleek Berry, and Ycee.
