Released on February 18, 2021, the trailer for Mortal Kombat (2021) has amassed an astonishing 116 million views, making it the highest of all time for an r-rated movie trailer.
Ignoring the events of the previous films to give fans a whole new interpretation, Mortal Kombat is a martial arts fantasy action movie directed by Simon McQuoid.

It stars Lewis Tan, Jessica McNamee, Mehcad Brooks, Tadanobu Asano, Ludi Lin, Josh Lawson, Chin Han, and Joe Taslim.
Given the fact that is a remake of something audiences have seen before, it came as a surprise when fan reactions to the trailer were overwhelmingly positive.

Speaking on the positive response from fans on the day the trailer dropped, Mortal Kombat producer Todd Garner said that watching the reactions brought tears to his eyes.
He said he had to be away from his family for five months to work on the film so the "smiles and gasps" have made his efforts worth it.
