Nigerians Drag Special Anti-Robbery Squad Over Ogun, Ibadan, Lagos Unrest

Nigerians Drag Special Anti-Robbery Squad Over Ogun, Ibadan,

Nigerians on social media are expressing their displeasure with the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), the controversial unit in the country's Police Force, following the incessant robbery attacks experienced in some South-West states.

Allnews reports that there have reported incidents of robbery in Ogun, Oyo and Lagos states amid the lockdown occasioned by the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

There has been public evidence of human rights violations committed by SARS in recent years. However, the Police hierarchy only decentralized the unit - in January 2019.

With armed robbery cases increasing as Nigerians 'stay at home', many Twitter users are unimpressed by the professionalism of SARS - even though some arrest has been made.
