Restrictions Re-imposed In Parts Of UK After Surge In Corona

Residents of parts of the United Kingdom like Glasgow and parts of northern England are experiencing fresh restrictions after a swell in the number coronavirus was recorded.

Places like Trafford and Bolton in the Greater Manchester area were expecting that the restrictions would be lifted, only to be re-imposed at the last minute.

There have been calls for a ban in social gatherings both in homes and other venues.

Health Secretary, Matt Hancock, said that the restrictions would remain in place in cities where restrictions were due to be lifted.

Hancock said, “We continually monitor outbreaks across the country and have seen infection rates increase more than three times in Bolton in under a week, and double in Trafford since the last review.

“We have always been clear we will take swift and decisive action where needed to contain outbreaks.”

In the north and northwest England, places like Hyndburn, Stockport, Burnley, Kirklees, and Bradford had their restrictions lifted as scheduled.

In Glasgow and two other surrounding areas, the fresh retsrictions are to last for a period of two weeks.
