The Tomorrow War has broken Amazon Prime Video's records, garnering unprecedented viewing numbers during the first 48 hours of its release on the streaming platform.

Starring Chris Pratt and Yvonne Strahovski in lead roles, the movie tells the story of humans desperately fighting for survival in a future war with vicious aliens (see our review here).

The movie is directed by Chris McKay and premiered on Amazon Prime Video on July 2, 2021, and swiftly ascended to become the most-watched movie during the weekend.

Reacting to the feat, Pratt took to his Instagram page to announce that The Tomorrow War is now the "#1 streaming film in the world."

In the video clip, the actor (who plays the character of Star-Lord in the MCU) called the success of the film a "home run win", adding: "We couldn't defeat the whitespikes without our fellow soldiers."
