'Whether We Admit It Or Not, Oil Is Drying Up' - NIAS Head

Head of Training and Internship at the Nigerian Institute of Animal Science (NIAS), Fola Adebayo, said that the nation's oil is drying up "whether we admit it or not".

A member of the House of Representatives, Dennis Idahosa - whose constituency jointly organised the event - said this during a training programme dubbed, 'Poultry Rearing Management', organised for 100 youths and women from the constituency he represents.

The programme was conducted by the Nigerian Institute of Animal Science (NIAS) in partnership with Idahosa.

Idahosa was quoted to have said, “I make bold to say that we started in earnest to fulfilling our electioneering promises and this training programme is part of my promise to provide empowerments for my people. 

“With this training, they have received and the grant that will follow, these youths and women will not only be self-sustenance but will be employers of labour if they effectively manage the grant.” 

Also speaking at the function, the Head of Training and Internship at NIAS, Fola Adebayo said that the country's potential can be unlocked if the government can tap into the benefits of agriculture.

He added that youths in the country remain an integral part of the country's development, and can be self-sufficient and "employers of labour if harnessed".

He said, “Whether we admit it or not, oil is drying up, even if it not, the cost of oil is going down every day. Agriculture holds the key to unlocking the potentials of the country. 

“It will also make youths that form the nucleus of our population self sufficient and employers of labour if harnessed.”
