Willian To Arsenal: The 4th Player To Move Directly From Chelsea To Arsenal

Willian To Arsenal: The 4th Player To Move Directly From Che

The Brazilian Winger, Willian Borges Da Silva is on verge of joining Arsenal as a free agent this summer as he refused a contract renewal at Chelsea. The 30-year old former Shakhtar player's contract will expire this summer and would not be renewing it as he heads towards the Stamford bridge gates to join Mikel Arteta's men.

AllNews understands that Willian if he completes the transfer to Arsenal would become the 4th player to leave Chelsea for Arsenal directly and takes a look at the other 3 players.

William Gallas

Gallas signed for Chelsea in 2001 and was part of the team that won two Premier League titles under Jose Mourinho.

In 2006 he moved to Arsenal in a transfer that saw Ashley Cole go in the opposite direction. He failed to win a trophy during his four years at the club, with perhaps his most infamous moment coming when he sat and sulked on the pitch after Arsenal conceded a late equalizer against Birmingham in 2008, as the Gunners' title challenge fell away that year.

To cap off his career in England, Gallas went to Tottenham in 2010. Playing for the three biggest teams in London, you can't fault his audacity. Perhaps just his loyalty.

Petr Cech

Petr Cech won everything there was to win at Chelsea during his 11 years at the club. No goalkeeper has kept more Premier League clean sheets in a single season than the 24 that Cech managed in 2004/05.

However, when younger Thibaut Courtois returned from Atletico Madrid to take Cech's place in the side, the veteran shot-stopper knew it was time to move on. He decided to take his 'helmet' to Arsenal.

He saw out the rest of his playing days at the Emirates before retiring from the game at the end of the 2018/19 season.

David Luiz

The Brazilian center back, David Luiz was one of Chelsea's top defender with pace, techniques, good at set-pieces. He was transferred to Paris Saint-Germain for 2 years before returning to the club and later sold to Arsenal on the last day of the transfer due to Arsenal's desperate need of a central defender during the transfer window, with Laurent Koscielny eventually getting a move to Bordeaux, whilst another season of Shkodran Mustafi was a horrifying prospect for most supporters.

So they have turned to Luiz. Capped 56 times by Brazil and having spent a total of six and a half years at Chelsea spread across two separate spells.
