Abuja Residents Stage Protest Over 2023 Elections

Aggrieved Nigerians in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have taken to the streets to protest the conduct of the 2023 general elections.

Per reports, the demonstrators are Labour Party supporters who are dissatisfied with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

It was gathered that the residents have taken over the Unity Fountain in the nation's capital to express their grievances.

The protest comes amid complaints and criticisms trailing the just concluded governorship and state assembly elections in different parts of the nation.

Reports of violence, intimidation and thuggery marred the electoral process and in its assessment, the EU mission expressing disappointment in a preliminary statement on Monday.

Labour Party flag bearer Peter Obi has also filed a petition contesting the process leading to the outcome of the presidential election, as revealed by the Chief Spokesman of the Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign, Dr Yunusa Tanko.

Obi's supporters who protested on Tuesday were seen carrying placards with the inscriptions: “We stand for Justice, we fight for a new Nigeria,” “President Buhari keep your promise,” and “Democracy not INECcracy” who owns Nigeria? The people'”.
