In the wake of comic actor John Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu, undergoing the amputation of one of his legs, concerns have been raised about his potential return to the big screen.

However, two renowned filmmakers, Lancelot Imasuen and Ugeze J. Ugeze, have reassured fans and admirers that Mr Ibu's acting career is far from over.

In a conversation with NollyNow, Ugeze J. Ugeze conveyed an optimistic perspective, stating firmly that ‘an actor remains an actor’.

Lancelot Imasuen echoed this sentiment, emphasising that Mr Ibu still has the opportunity to grace the movie set, potentially even with an artificial leg.

While acknowledging the regrettable nature of Mr Ibu’s condition, Lancelot Imasuen expressed confidence that the actor’s strength lies in his words and charisma.

He speculated that Mr Ibu might attract even more attention now than ever before, suggesting that a special role could be created for him in movies.

“The power of Mr Ibu is in his words, and he may even attract more attention now than ever,” Lancelot said, highlighting the possibility of a continued and potentially enhanced career for the popular comic actor.

Mr Ibu recently underwent a series of surgeries, culminating in the amputation of one of his legs.

The decision to amputate was made to save his life, and a statement posted on his Instagram page by his family confirmed the seven successful surgeries.

It’s worth noting that Mr Ibu is not the first Nollywood actor to undergo such a health challenge.

Veteran actor Tunde Alabi, known for his roles in TV dramas like ‘Village Headmaster’ and ‘Palace’, also had one of his legs amputated in 2016 to save his life.

However, Tunde Alabi largely retreated from the public eye after his amputation.
