Deaths from coronavirus in Brazil have passed the 60, 000 mark after the South American country recorded over 1,000 deaths in the last 24 hours, the country's Ministry of Health discloses.
Brazil has remained the second-worst hit country following the United States, and it has also steadily recorded a high number of fatalities than any other country over the past week.
The country's numbers are yet to plateau, as the cases continue to surge in an alarming move.
The total number of coronavirus cases in the country is 1.45 million, however, experts believe that the figure is much higher than the official numbers.

Sao Paulo has the highest number of fatalities in the country, followed by Rio de Janeiro.
Brazil's president, Jair Bolsonaro, has continuously decried the stay-at-home measure introduced by local governors in a bod to curb the spread of the virus.
Bolsonaro had always compared the pandemic to a "little flu," and has mostly been seen in public without a mask on.
