The Emir of Biu, Borno State, Mai Umar Mustapha Aliyu, has died, at the age of 79.
The monarch died on Monday night at the Federal Medical Center (Federal Teaching Hospital) in Gombe State after briefly battling an illness.
“We lost our father a pillar to Biu Emirate and Borno entirely, the Emir of Biu," the monarch's family eulogised.

“May Almighty Allah forgive his shortcomings and grant him the highest place in Jannatul Firdaus.”
Aliyu became Emir of the Biu Emirate - a traditional state in Borno - in 1989.
