D'Tigress Power forward, Evelyn Akhator, has revealed that she was racially abused in 2017 in the Eastern European country of Russia.

AllNews reports that Akhator, now with Flammes Carolo of France was on the books of WBC Dynamo Novosibirsk at the time.

Racism in Russia appears mainly in the form of negative attitudes and actions by some Russians toward people who are not ethnically Russian.

Traditionally, Russian racism includes antisemitism and Tatarophobia, as well as hostility towards various ethnicities of the Caucasus, Central Asia, East Asia, and Africa.

In 2006, Amnesty International reported that racism in Russia was "out of control."

Russia also has one of the highest immigration rates in Eastern Europe.

"The first time I was racially abused was in 2017, in Russia," Akhator, 25, told sportingly.

"I was coming back home from the grocery store, and I saw like 20 guys standing in front of their school gate, and they used the N-word on me.

"That actually broke my heart.

"I actually cried and increased my speed.

"In my process, I almost passed my apartment.

"It really hurt me so bad [sic], I was just crying, thinking like what's going on?"
