Toke Makinwa

She was born on November 3, 1984 in Abuja but later on moved to Lagos state with her family. Sadly, she lost her parents in a fire accident and was raised by her foster parents, Mr and Mrs. Akinyelure.

After her secondary education at Federal Girls College, Oyo, she got admitted into University of Lagos and graduated with a degree in English and Literature.

 Toke had her first radio experience while awaiting admission into university. Since then, she always knew she had a place in the media.

She is quite famous for co-hosting ‘Morning Drive’ on Rhythm 93.7FM. In 2010, she launched her late-night talk show ‘Rhythms of the Night’. Together with two other media personalities – Tosyn Bucknor and Oreka Gordis – they hosted Flytime TV’s 3 Live Chicks.Also, she premiered her YouTube vlog series ‘Toke Moments’ in 2012.

She has also hosted notable events, including the Hip Hop World Magazine’s interview and talk show ‘Trending’. As an anchor, she was chosen to anchor the 25th edition of the MBGN beauty pageant.

Toke has also featured in editorials like Exquisite Magazine, ThisDay style, City People, Complete Fashion Magazine and Fashion TV.

In November 2016, Toke released her memoir ‘On Becoming’. The book centered on her personal struggles and the betrayal of her ex-husband, Maje Ayida.

PERSONAL LIFE
Toke Makinwa got married to Maje Ayida, her boyfriend of 8 years in January 2014. However, they separated in 2015, owing to infidelity on Ayida’s part. It was learnt that he impregnated his ex-girlfriend. In October 2017, their marriage was dissolved on the grounds that Ayida committed adultery.
