Per an exclusive Variety report, the organizers of the event have said that attendees are not being asked to wear masks while the cameras are rolling.
The development was made known to the public on Monday, April 19, in a Zoom meeting with representatives of the Academy, nominees, and studio and personal publicists.

The report says that because the ceremony which will be held at Union Station in Los Angeles is being treated as a film/TV production, masks are not required for people on camera.
However, when attendees are not on camera, they are being told to wear their masks. Also, masks should be put on during commercial breaks.
It was also disclosed by the Academy that the audience capacity will be limited to 170 people as audience members will be rotated in and out of the ceremony.

There will be a minimum of seven feet between reporters and interviewees.
