Former Military Head of State, Yakubu Gowon, has reacted to the allegation of looting the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) during his military regime. Gowon had been accused by UK parliamentarian, Tom Tugendhat, of illegally carting away money from CBN.Three days after the accusation, Gowon refuted the claim, stating that Tugendhat's comment was "rubbish".

2. Igbo Presidency: Ekweremadu Advises Southeast Leaders To Negotiate With North

Ahead of the 2023 election, the former Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu has advised the leaders of the Southeastern region to negotiate with the North to further strengthen the region's chances of producing the country's next president.Ekweremadu, who gave this advice on Wednesday, said that the clamour for Igbo presidency can only be realised if the region convinces the north to buy its initiative.

3. Biafra Political Activist, Uche Mefor Spits Fire Amid IPOB Leadership Crisis

Estranged Deputy-Leader of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Uche Okafor-Mefor on Thursday warned that when he defends himself against "the wicked propagation of lies", "be sure that a lot will come out", AllNews reports.In a post on his known Facebook page, the Biafra political activist vowed that 'no amount of sponsored blackmail against me at this stage will make or break me'.

4. UI VC Crisis: External Council Members Walk Out Of Meeting

Jaju Muhammad and Mande Samaila who were appointed as the external governing council for overseeing the process of selecting a new Vice-Chancellor at the University of Ibadan (UI), walked out of the meeting organised yesterday to address petitions against the Senate of the institution.Other members of the meeting such as Ademola Aremu and Abel Olorunnisola also walked out alongside the external council members. Our correspondent gathered that they walked out after about five and a half hours when the meeting commenced.

Josephine Okereke, Wife of newspaper vendor, who was shot by a security aide attached to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, has disowned her husband’s family.Information gathered has it that the newspaper vendor's wife in a press conference in Abuja earlier today disowned them for demanding the sum of N500m as compensation and more without her approval.

9. Kogi Govt Officials To Pay 80% More For Indigent  Citizens Health Insurance — Commissioner

Officials of Kogi State Government have resolved to pay 80% more than their statutory obligations in order to stretch the health security opportunities to cater for the indigent citizens. The Policy will also cover all civil servants in the State. AllNews gathered that this was stated Wednesday by the State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo while briefing newsmen at the end of the State Executive Council Meeting.
