Flying Eagles head coach, Ladan Bosso has decamped 12 players ahead of the 2023 U-20 AFCON in Egypt.
AllNews Nigeria learnt that Bosso told the affected players to leave camp following their underwhelming performances during the Flying Eagles training session yesterday.
The names of the affected players are still undisclosed even as of the time of filing this report.
The Flying Eagles began the second phase of preparation for the tournament in Abuja on January 9.
Shortly after camp opened, the head coach extended an invitation to foreign-based Nigerian footballers to add depth to his squad before the Flying Eagles' opening clash against Senegal, an encounter Bosso expects to be difficult.
While some foreign-based professionals turned down the invitation, other foreign-based players arrived for international duty and began training forthwith.
It is expected that Bosso will release the squad list on January 25 before the team embarks on a training tour in Morocco later this month.
Nigeria is drawn in Group A with hosts Egypt, Mozambique and Senegal.
The 2023 U-20 AFCON is slated to hold from February 19 to March 11.
