Nolllywood Filmmaker Akorede Alli Facing Allegations Of Mistreatment On Upcoming Project

Nolllywood Filmmaker Akorede Alli Facing Allegations Of Mist

New York-based Nollywood filmmaker Akorede Alli has been accused of mistreating some of his cast members on the set of an upcoming Netflix movie.

Pulse reports that the allegation comes from different sources following the audition of a forthcoming movie to premiere on Netflix titled Ran Mi Lowo.

According to the scoop, select actors were invited to a meeting tagged 'Two Sets' and in the course of the meeting which lasted six hours, the invitees had their pictures and measurements taken without any mention of contracts or the characters they were picked to portray.

An actor who reportedly spoke with Pulse anonymously disclosed that Alli had lost his temper when some actors asked him about getting paid.

"The director angrily shouted about actors acting like they are doing Nollywood a favour and that in Miami where's he's from, things are not done like that", the source said.

Speaking further, the source added: "A notable actress who was also on the set complained about the treatment and asked if Sola Sobowale would get the same treatment. Oga was vexed and said he is the executive producer and that she is not Sola Sobowale.

"He later directed us to his production manager who said we will be added to a WhatsApp group where payment and other information will be given to us.

"We were told to resume on set located on the Island the next day. We were also told to bring costumes."

After six days of shooting without any contract, the actors were reportedly paid the sum of N15,000 and thanked for their efforts.

Pulse says that the allegation was confirmed by upcoming actress Amanda Oruh in a tweet that went viral on Wednesday, April 14, 2021. She said, "You say you're from Hollywood, Miami and actors get contract 24 hours to shoot or when they get to set, you & your team refused to tell the actors what would be paid, you get avoiding the question. They come to your set because they want to work. After 7 days, you tell them 15k.
