Rodgers Provides Fofana Transfer Update

Wesley Fofana

Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers has revealed that he expects Wesley Fofana to remain at the club at the close of the transfer window on September 1.

The France defender has attracted strong interest from Chelsea, with their two bids already rejected by the Foxes.

Rodgers has now provided an update on their star defender.

"The idea is that he is a Leicester City player.

"He is not for sale, the club have made that clear, unless anything changes, he will still be here. At this moment, there is nothing new, and nothing has changed from when we last spoke." Rodgers concluded.

The 21-year-old signed a new deal in March to extend his stay at the King Power until 2027.

Chelsea lost Andreas Christensen and Anthony Rudiger to Barcelona and Real Madrid, respectively, after their contracts ran out at the end of last season.

They have been able to bring in the likes of Khalidou Koulibaly and Marc Cucurella, but the Stamford Bridge outfit are ready to break the bank for Fofana.

He has featured in Leicester City's first two Premier League games against Brentford and Arsenal.

Fofana joined Leicester City from Saint-Etienne in 2020 and has made 52 appearances for the club, scoring just once.
